Pest Details
Adult
Wingspan of 20-25 mm. Forewings straw coloured to brown with dark margins and wide jagged darker median band. Hindwings are yellowish-orange with a dark brown margin with a pale mark within.
Larvae
Fully grown larvae reach 30-40 mm in length. Body colour varies from green to yellow or pinkish to reddish brown. A narrow dark median dorsal band is present with contrasting paler bands laterally. Spiracles show up along pale band. Head is brown and mottled.
Eggs
Semi-spherical in shape and yellowish white. Surface sculpture ribbed.

Southern Asia, Oceania and sub-Saharan Africa
Economic Host(s)
Pepper (Capsicum), pumpkin (Cucurbita), tobacco (Nicotinia), tomato (Solanum) and maize (Zea).
Symptons/Signs
Young larvae usually feed on young leaves and growing points while later instars prefer to bore into soft stems, seeds and fruits of their host to feed. Growth is retarded and the upper leaves become mesh like with numerous feeding windows. New buds are eaten after flowering.

Recommended Trap Density
2-3 traps per hectare in large uniform areas of crops and 3-5 traps per hectare in small, less dense or mixed crop stands.
Trap Maintenance
Check traps on a regular basis; at least twice a week. We recommend replacing the pheromone dispensers every 4 weeks to achieve optimum results.
Storage
Keep product away from heat and direct sunlight. Store in a refrigerator for a shelf life of 12 months or a freezer for an extended life of 24 months. Always store sealed in original packaging.
